Stations
In Pre 6, stations were simply a property of a track. The
simulator just draws a platform and that's your station. In the
upcoming release, you can decide for yourself where the platform
should be placed (on which side of the track(s)). Also a platform
is not limited to the length of one track unit, but can extend to
additional track units. The editor snapshot below should clarify
this:

You can see a double track (black) running from the top left to the bottom right. There are two platforms (dashed purple lines), one on each side of the two tracks. Both platforms run the length of two track units. The autopilot driven trains will stop at the end of the platform.
Lines
As in the previous version, it is possible to define lines. A
line defines a route which a train running on that line will
follow. Each train is assigned to a line. Each switch is
configured to set the direction for each of the lines.
A new feature is the possibility to define the type of line: express, intercity, interregional, regional or local. This has effect on whether a train will stop at a station. Stations can be of one of these types: terminal, intercity station, city station, town station or local station. Later I will build the possibility to define a time table with departure times.
